Enlightening Spiritual Truths To Children

CBM Christian Book Reviews thanks Author Reina Davison, for her work to protect the vulnerable children of the world! Thank you Reina for authoring this wonderful book.

Overcoming Abuse: My Body Belongs to God and Me – A Child’s Body Safety Guide by Reina Davison speaks to children, telling them they are “Overcomers.”

In Overcoming Abuse: My Body Belongs to God and Me the author begins the book by the definition of what an overcomer is. Opening children’s eyes to the truth of God’s purpose and plans for them, she goes on to describe God’s gift of free will.

Describing Good Touch and Bad Touch; she elaborates on these two and what that can encompass. There are Good Touch people and Bad Touch people. Her book gives hope to children who have or have not experienced abuse by speaking the truth of God’s love and care for their body. She also teaches children how to prevent abuse by giving them the tools to know the difference between a healthy relationship and unhealthy relationships.

Writing from a Biblical perspective, yet incredibly gentle and simple, Reina Davison gives hope and guidance that exposes the darkness and sin of the enemy lurking in our lives. These people are unsafe and “No Touch” people as Reina explains. Her premise teaches children the principle of becoming “Overcomers” in Christ Jesus. This is a fantastic book that teaches wonderful and enlightening spiritual truths to children. (Note: This book just may encourage adults as well; teaching them that they are overcomers!) I personally enjoyed the uplifting truths to her book and thought…I wish I had a book such as this when I was a child. You will be delighted by this book as well.

As a guidebook, this book teaches parents, caregivers, family members, etc., to understand what safe behavior is in and out of the home. Her Body Safety guide in the back provides a checklist for adults to adhere to in protecting children. With beautiful illustrations, the author sheds light on walking in the truth of God’s Word, while giving them instruction of their enemy (the devil), the Bible, and Jesus, offering hope and encouragement to look to Jesus as their help and Savior. Her book shows that God has a good plan for them and cares for them. She shares that they are Overcomers and can defeat the enemy (the devil) and that because of Jesus, they too can choose to be of Good Cheer (be happy).

This book comes highly recommended for all children who need to be taught encouraging truths about God’s Word, and especially is a tool to be used by parents, counselors, pastors, child psychologists, medical personnel, and lay persons to teach about healthy sexual boundaries.

To tell you the truth, this is one of those books parents should utilize in teaching their children about bad people that sin and touch inappropriately. She has given a list of resources in the back of the book, and is an advocate of ending child sexual abuse. Written with grace, wisdom, and sensitivity to children’s pure intellects, this book does a wonderful job in tackling a difficult subject.

Where Do You Stand On Eternal Life and What Is To Come

From The Kingdom Series:
The Beginning and the End: God's Eternal Kingdom

Is There Life After Death

Notably, this book was written to impact others in a profound way…and asks, “Are you ready? Prepare for I am coming soon.” This was spoken to the author, coupled with a dream, gave him the inspiration to writing this book..

Highly recommended for those that like Christian fiction novels that give hope, light and peace in choosing Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. And for all those warriors and military buffs out there…you’ll love this book!

The Sword of Solomon by Nick Gasaway is an explorative piece relating the story of King David and his son, Solomon in the Bible through a presentation of a “modern-day depiction of good vs. evil.” Fast-paced and imaginative, the question that comes forth from the book is one of choice…will you accept Jesus or reject Him?

First following a Biblical parallel from King David and Solomon, these modern-day characters highlight Solomon, the world’s first trillionaire. Blessed with incredible wisdom and ingenuity, riches and corporate know-how, Solomon is led to focusing on his father’s (David’s) journal. Solomon’s reflection, admiration and perspective of his father give life to David’s accomplishments before he died. Looking back, Solomon vows to keep track of all who helped his father David (just as the King David honored Jonathan’s descendants in Scripture).

With a woven tapestry of descriptive imagery, readers from the beginning are given a glimpse of the immensity of not only Solomon’s wealth and prestige, but his deep desire for the things of God, including his integrity as his father’s son. Much like, what we see in the Bible coming from King David and Solomon (who asked for only wisdom, yet was granted wisdom and riches by the Lord). Solomon is a wise man dedicated to the fulfilling the Lord’s purpose for him.

His father, David, was a military hero, his sword that hung steadfastly on the wall in Solomon’s study, lends to incredible significance, but also as a memorial to his father, David. Intriguing sub-plots of a DNA activated crystal, including End Time scenarios of a one world government, leading to a global economic breakdown leading to a global economy under a global leader sheds light into possible End Time scenarios that gain strength in the end of the book. Inclusion of inspiring and profound scripture verses, memorable sayings garnered from such famous individuals such as: Winston Churchill, Albert Einstein, George S. Patton, also create a vividly clear picture that shares a fascinating and progressive story.

Henry Miranda - Pressing On and Moving Forward

Pressing On and Moving Forward

Philippians 3:13-14 (NKJV)
“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,  I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Forgiving and forgetting is the prerequisite to going forward. As we follow the example of the apostle Paul and echo his words of “this one thing I do,” let’s not miss the truth that in order to reach ahead and press forward it is at times necessary to forgive and forget the things of our past. Looking back keeps us from looking upward to God for help. Forgiving and forgetting are the keys to true freedom in the Christian life.

The hardest thing about being a Christian is keeping your eyes on God. We get so easily distracted in this fallen world. We need to have our mind set on the things that will glorify God. But it’s hard when you’re so involved in your own life and whatever makes you happy. We need to remember where we were before we came to Christ. It’s hard at times, but Jesus is always there with h His strength to carry us through.

How many of us remember when we had no place to turn but to God? Like the prodigal son, our lives were in a mud pit. We needed to start over in Christ. No matter what we went through before we came to Christ, we now know that we are in Christ. Forgetting may be hard at times, but that is what we need to do. A newborn baby does not know anything and is learning constantly. When he is uncomfortable he cries. As Christians, when we get uncomfortable, we need to cry out to God. We become a totally new person when we come to Christ. So we need to put our mind on pressing ahead towards the goal that God has set before us.

Sometimes life can be so hard that we feel like giving up. But giving up is something that shouldn’t be in our vocabulary as Christians. Many of us have worldly attachments that keep us from serving Christ.  We need to learn to forget them. Because It’s important that we get rid of whatever it is that is holding us back from serving God 100%. We need to have our mind set on Christ always in order for us to keep pressing on and moving forward towards our goal.

We have to learn to be willing to forget our pains and problems. We cannot go forward in our walk with Christ until we are willing to lay aside some hurts, offenses, and problems. Our focus must always be on Christ. Forgetting past hurts, offenses, problems, and failures is necessary in order to press forward.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

It is best to forget what is behind us so that it has no opportunity to overtake us again. We need to go forward in forgiving and forgetting so that we don’t become worse than the very thing we hate. Paul pressed forward for a prize. To him, there was something greater to be gained by moving ahead and not lingering in the past. That is true for us in terms of offenses as well. There is simply nothing to be gained by going back to past hurts and refusing to get over them. By forgiving and pressing forward, we gain strength, maturity, understanding, and patience. We should forget the past and press forward for the reward of knowing what we have done is right, lies ahead.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)
    “Trust in the Lord with all your heart,     and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him,     And He shall direct your paths.”

Matzah Balls to Communion Wafers is an excellent and intriguing memoir peering into the depths of a woman’s soul torn by worldly and religious culture, family heritage, and anti-semitism, thus revealing a steady quest for knowledge and truth in the light of the love of God. ~ CBM Christian Book Reviews

Gail Baker pens a delightful and life-enriching memoir. Filled with memorable familial insights and battles, Gail Baker relates her common Jewish family, bridging the gap between tradition and faith as a Jewish woman.

Raised as a Jewish girl amongst many Christians, Gail Baker grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. Blending a tenacious personality, humor, and candor, her intelligence and analytical abilities shine throughout the book. A timeline of poignant moments from childhood to adulthood defined and shaped her family, her life and some of her outcomes. Lovingly speaking of her family roots and history, her story unfolds as a young girl coming of age. Insights and highlights shed light into the beliefs of her Jewish family, the era they lived in and Jewish resolve and unity from her family’s effortless support of humanitarian efforts, to include the establishment of Israel as a nation in 1967.

I found myself not able to put down her memoir. As I read of the turbulent 60’s during her days in college, she reflects back on her upbringing that relates dysfunction on many levels. Despite, Judaism (which played a nominal role in Gail’s young life), she describes a young girl cloistered by the knowledge of anti-semitism and shallow Christianity. This led to a voracious pursuit of philosophical and theological dictum that bring about understanding of the ideals she has come to know. She shares these perspectives, quotes, scripture verses and insight that gives her book texture and depth. She relates a deep spiritual journey that led to a splendid concession of simply coming to the only One that could bring peace to her soul, Jesus Christ.

With such harmony, she summarizes misconceptions, anxiety, fear, faith and the issues with raising a child that came into difficulty. She also fervently describes her loving pursuit in helping her son, in which her mother’s heart is revealed in such a tender way.

What readers will find is that woven within the tapestry of her book springs forth a deep spiritual conviction to find Truth. This book will move readers deep within their soul, build faith and inspire admiration for God’s chosen people. Her sculpted memoir relates grace and intensity simultaneously. Her story culminates in a wonderful and beautiful love story from a “not-so Kosher Jewish girl that fell in love with Jesus.”

This is an incredibly touching memoir that all will not want to miss!

Matzah Balls to Communion Wafers comes as a highly recommended read for all Christians and Jewish individuals, especially to those that perhaps may be grappling with faith, tradition and religion. Purely enjoyable!

Thank you Gail for sharing your life with us!

A Must Read!

This book really made me think. It delves into spiritual warfare, and considers some of the ways God could anoint believers who resist the enemy in the last days. This book challenged me to believe God for some things I had never considered before. But, it is also a good story. It has plenty of action and I found it hard to put down. I recommend it!” ~ Tom Miller

In Sword of the Spirit, Mark takes us on an intense and imaginative quest that parallels our own lives. A great piece of work that captivates the reader while increasing our ability to remain free from the schemes of darkness. I love  it. It is lush in imagery.“ ~ Gary Crawford

Sword of the Spirit by Mark Norris  - To most in the Realm of Drugolin, otherly spirit lore lingered as mysterious legends best suited for late night hearths. On rare occasions one might hear of strange visitations. Some of huge, radiant beings bearing aid and guidance. Others of dark, evil creatures summoning dread and death. All were a part of Drugolish legend, but few took them seriously.

The westland village of Noy couldn’t afford the apathy of its unenlightened, middleland neighbors. Its enclosing fortress walls stood as a monument to the frightening visitations it experienced, day and night.

When the town’s most celebrated
otherly adventurer receives a prophetic lamp, he teams with one final group on a faith empowering mission into the dread regions of evil that could usher in an eternal age where mortals are like angels and God reigns supreme.

Yahwin (God), Krystos (Jesus), Sahron (Satan), a host of
otherly foes, warrior angels, and warrior prophets endued with extraordinary power all inhabit this peculiar realm in which author Mark Norris tells an eschatological tale that wars for the Millennium’s victor’s rights.

What would you do if an angel materialized in your bedroom tonight, handed you a prophetic lampstand that projected the events of Satan’s rebellion, and invited you to brave the powers of hell?  .................
The otherly is waiting,…will you go?

From the Garden into Eternity" tells of mankind's fall from God's grace beginning in the Garden of Eden, all the way through to one's individual choice: Will eternity be spent in Heaven with God or Hell with Satan? As a result of sin, mankind suffered a loss of close fellowship with God—but do not fret! The relationship can be restored in this life right into the next! God does not, however, force anyone into a relationship with Him. We are free to choose Him or the alternative: Satan. This book, fully-supported by Bible verses, helps you determine where you are in this journey called "life". Rest assured that God loves you and longs to give you eternal life in Heaven with Him, but you must first repent and place your faith in Jesus Christ. If you have never taken that step, please don't wait any longer. The alternative eternity—which will be by default—will be dreadful. Call on Jesus today! Start the relationship that guarantees your eternity in Heaven with God!

No Longer A Slave of Sin

Over the last 9 months the Lord told me to set my mornings aside to Him. I have spent 3 to 6 hours every morning in prayer seeking Him. During this season He has shown me that the god of this world (satan) has put a veil over our eyes to keep us in darkness. The Lord told me when the lie becomes illuminated the lie will no longer exist and its power will cease!

I wanted to know why believers still struggled with sin when Romans 6:6 says we will no longer be slaves to sin. “knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.” What does it mean to be crucified with Him? Knowing this, but do we know this, and if we don’t know this, does that mean we are still slaves to sin? Is this one scripture a key to our bondage?

Highly Recommended 10.0 out of 10.0 stars

Breaking the Silence by Diamante Lavendar is a touching fictional memoir written through a series of diary entries by the main character of the book, Joan Eastman.

The character has bought the diary to journal her second pregnancy. Beginning with a poem written by the author, the poem sheds light on the beauty of the Lord’s keeping of you in your life and the fleeting temporal world that we live in, giving all hope for the future available in the Lord.

The book continues with fading in-and-out of memories and glimpses of the characters life, revealing horror of young innocence that was stolen and abused, Eastman’s memories of child abuse portray abuse that began at two-years-old and continued for many years. Encouraging all to not internalize abuse, the author speaks out to inspire others to break the cycle of silence that victims of abuse often endure in their suffering.

As the book transcends into the depths of child abuse and the wounding, the author reflects these journeys with life-lessons learned that reveal an overcoming spirit. She reveals how the Lord was there at every “winding road” that helps readers understand such issues as: anger, emotional and sexual abuse, the damage of stuffing emotions, self-esteem, hatred, perfectionism, self reflection, and so much more that offers readers hope and faith in God, offering a realization that with help from Him, they can overcome all abuse and neglect in their lives.

Throughout the book, many different seasons are revealed in the character’s life, displaying just how God carried the character through all the dark times. A restoration of hope and a personal relationship in the Lord  developed over the years in the character which sheds light on the fact that whether abused or not, all readers can relate to the different seasons of one’s life and look back upon their lives to see the hand of God active upon their life. This is the main theme of the book intertwined with breaking the silence of abuse that the author has creatively conveyed.

She also wants others to know that they are not alone. Encouraging all to look to God and that there is hope, healing and restoration in Jesus Christ. This book comes highly recommended for those that need help and encouragement in processing abuse, giving them a foundation in the Lord, and helps lead them into recovery by offering hope through Jesus Christ.

CBM Book Review - God’s Easter Miracles

Your children will love this beautiful illustrated children's book. From cover to cover God's Easter Miracles is filled with bright colorful pages that will leave your children in awe and wonder as they read the pages. Truly an amazing book ~ CBM

God’s Easter Miracles by Lee Ann Mancini and illustrated by Dan Sharp offers little children the gift of Jesus and the miracle of Easter through a delightful and fun-filled story of life under the sea. With cute, bright and colorful pages, children learn about a school of fish, all different in shapes and sizes, that attend church to worship God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

There are Sea Horses, Manatees, a Puffer Fish named Melissa, and so much more for the eye to see. Life under the sea at Coralhood is a place where God, church, family and friends share community, as the author points out to the children that they are all special in God’s eyes.

Shedding light on the miracle of Easter and Jesus who gave His life to all by dying on the cross and

resurrecting on Easter day give young children an understanding of how much they are loved personally by Jesus. Quoting the scripture verse, “Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13 (NIV), the author also presents several key life-lessons that children can relate to. Life lessons of being kind towards one another, praying for each other, asking Jesus to help you become like Him, help all the undersea children at the Sunday School learn how to care for one another in a godly way.

Filled with fun, children will always remember this book as it teaches the golden rule, to treat others as we would want to be treated and that giving is better than receiving. And most importantly the book teaches to little ones that Jesus gave the ultimate gift to us at Easter, His own life, so that we can have life and live in Heaven with Him. The author does an excellent job at explaining this on a kid’s level.

This is a wonderful and endearing Christian book that all parents and children alike will cherish. It would make a great gift to children in their Easter baskets. Children will also have fun finding the hidden Christian fish symbol (Ichthys) embedded in the pictures on select pages.

A Hope and A Future

Life comes with difficulties, hardships, sorrow, loss and at times great pain. I have often wondered why one person finds joy and happiness in life while another finds heartache and sorrow. Many times, there are just no answers to such questions. Yet for all of us, we must press through such obstacles. It Was Not My Fault! All the Glory to God by Rachel Lee White is a faith-filled and unique book of prayers bringing to light her own experiences that relays the message to readers in that we over come by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony.

Three short chapters cover: Early Childhood, Young Adulthood, and Middle Adulthood to Present Day that are designed to relate to God. Readers will find this book an inspiration as to how to know and draw near to our Father in Heaven through the connection of prayer.

Bringing insight to the power of prayer, the author offers hope to others that as the author notes from Creflo Dollar as famously spoke, “Your past does not determine your future.”

Born out of much grief, her story is heartbreaking as she was orphaned at the age of 10 by violence that penetrated her home through her father who wounded her mother, which led to her death and his eventual suicide. Raised by her grandmother, the chronic grief opened unwanted “drama” in the author’s life. Finding herself with 2 babies and homeless by the age of 18, she was persuaded by Child Services to give her children to Foster Care, and soon followed their adoption. Fostering the truth of God’s Word, this book comes highly recommended as an inspirational tool to young adults (especially young teenage girls) that need to understand that nothing is their fault (as the title denotes) and that God is able to complete the work He has begun. This is an amazing short prayer testimonial filled with Scriptural and foundational truths that renew the mind that will catapult readers towards thankfulness and the amazing love and grace of God.

It Was Not My Fault! All the Glory to God at Amazon is available in Kindle. You may visit Rachel at her website, The Disciples of the Blood of the Lamb for more information and some great ministry.

Did Moses Change God's Mind

Numbers 14:19 "Pardon the iniquity of this people, I pray, according to the greatness of Your mercy, just as You have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.” 20. Then the Lord said: “I have pardoned, according to your word.”

Once again the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron, and said to them, If only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or if only we had died in this wilderness! They were despising all of the wonderful miracles God had performed to get them out of slavery.

They next decided to forget God’s leader, and pick a different one. Moses, Aaron, Joshua and Caleb tried to make the people change their minds, but they were not willing to obey.

Then the Lord asked, “How long will these people reject Me?” “I will strike them with the pestilence and disinherit them.” Moses began to intercede for them. Then the Lord said: “I have pardoned, according to your word.”

The Gift of Life

This new book is a sequel to his previous edition that remarkably captures the transformed life of one former drug addict into a mighty man of God. This book will move one beyond complacency into the supernatural workings of a “supernatural” God.

One Life to Give: Living Water for Thirsty Souls by Pastor and author Rick Blaisdell is, “A twenty-year testimony of God’s miraculous working power in the lives of thousands of people in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, the Republic of Slovakia, Kenya Africa, the Philippines, and many remote villages in South India.”  Be sure to visit Rick Blaisdell at One Life To Give.

With true-life testimonies that came from the real moments, the author engages readers to consider that you being only one person CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.  This is why he wrote the book. His testimony bears the witness of a chosen vessel moved by God beyond his own borders to share the love and compassion of Christ around the Globe.

Readers will be inspired by the many supernatural and mighty works of God displayed throughout, as this book ignites a passion for the Gospel to be preached around the world.

Sharing his travels from 1991 to 2011, the author has composed his many years as an evangelist, preacher and teacher with eye-witness accounts by Blaisdell of the glorious healing and hope Jesus brings to individuals that are broken, discouraged and in need of desperate help.

Find encouragement to do the “real stuff” and find inspiration as the author has given an open invitation to enter into the very heart of God.  Divine destiny and purpose are forged through these real life journals of one who has gone abroad and found that his one life does make a difference. Find out that your one life can make a difference as well.

A highly recommended true-life testimony of the supernatural power of God to bring change!
